Let us know how you are doing! Did you attend college? Travel the world? Get married? Have children? Get a job? Tell us about it! Friends and neighbors are also welcome to post here.

Just got home from the LDS film festival, where I attended "Errand of Angels", shot entirely in Austria. The story is fictional, but is about a Sister Missionary serving in Austria. I do not like LDS films: I find them trite, silly, and frequently quite juvenile.

I loved this! It was real, and honest, and beautiful. Go see it when it's released.

President Farrell Smith was there, as was President Swenson. One of the writers was Heidi Johnson, who served with President Swenson, so she was there, too. Another sister I didn't recognized stated during the Q&A that she served in Austria, too.

Since my mission in Austria I have continued to visit Europe. I love it out there. Stockholm is a favorite spot of mine along with all of Austria of course. I graduated with a masters in Professional Writing at the University of Oklahoma's Journalism College in May 2007. Boomer Sooner! My thesis was also my first book. Currently I am trying to find an agent to get it published. I am working on my next book and hope to continue this hobby. I have really enjoyed my 20's. I've been travelling and going to school and meeting lots of wonderful people. Right after graduating with my masters I moved outside of Washington DC. I love it here and if any of you come visit let me know: writejulietoday@gmail.com or see my facebook page.

Michael Lindqvist will be in town August 10th and we want to get as many old Austria Missionaries together as possible. If you are interested in getting together for a picnic or game of ultimate frisbee on the evening of the 10th, feel free to email me at gnat_98@hotmail.com for more info. The more the merrier!!

Hey! Why am I not on the alumni list? I may have left the church, but you can't take away my mission!!! ;) I had a wonderful time, met so many interesting people and I had the time of my life... I watched the clock tick over to 2007 this year and I can't believe it's been 20 YEARS... How did *that* happen? I've been thinking a lot about the old mission days this spring and I went searching for info and I found this site...

I left Utah for California (Los Angeles) about 10 years ago and I just love it here. I've been working for a large behemoth corporation and have decided I'm tired of being a cog in the corporate machine, so this fall I'm planning to go back to school, with a medical specialty in acupuncture and Chinese herbology. I have a couple of half-finished screenplays and novels (can't live in Hollywood for very long without *those*) and am generally just enjoying life as a free spirit these days. I'll leave my email address here, I would love for any of my old comps, friends, members, non-members, saints or sinners to look me up. It would be great to catch up with some of ya's.

I was saddened to read of Sister Smith's passing. My heart goes out to President Smith and his family. I lived/worked the last couple of months of my mission in the home/office and learned to love them like my own family. Warm thoughts and prayers to them.

Namaste,
Scott

Paging Melissa Dalton Bradford...you posted a message but didn't add your email address!! We lost contact a number of years ago, and I'd like to reconnect. I was in Paris on business in 2003 but didn't have your contact info...so I wasn't able to arrange a visit. Drop me an email at home or work...myblackcat@sbcglobal.net or janet.welsh@hospira.com.

Elder Leonardson

Hey.. I´m currently serving in the Germany Munich/Austria Mission. I´m actually just writing to say that we just baptized an Ilona Schuetz. Her father met with the missionaries a very long time ago in Judenburg. His name is Manfred Shcuetz. He always said that he enjoyed his time with the Elders. I just wanted to say that the seeds that were then planted have been sowed. I just thought that somebody out there, who ever met with him, would like to know because of their example, his 12 year old daughter is now a member of our church.

I was in Klagenfurt this past summer, Sister Gerda Schauer is looking for \her\" missionaries. I told her I would look for them... Anyone there who can help? I think she said ~1985."

It was great this past Fall to take part in President Smith\'s reunion and tribute to Sister Smith.

I live in South Jordan, Utah, my wife Amy and I are parents to 5 children. Megan (14) and Chase (12) are natural children, and our three adopted ones are Sage (5), Jade (5 - adopted from Taiwan) and Bryce (3). Our adopted children were sealed to us in November 2006.

I work as CFO of a private school, as well as doing some small business accounting on the side, and tax preparation from Jan - April. Church-wise, I have had many callings, currently serving as YM President and enjoying it.

I served from 5/86 - 5/88, in Villach, Linz, Graz and Wien. Despite my hearing disability, I had many choice experiences with the German speaking mission, and grew from my companionships and experiences.

It would be great to reestablish contact with former companions and missionaries I knew, so email me at kevinhanson@rhsm.org

Servus!

I've written before, but it's a little outdated now! I live in South Jordan, UT now. I'm still a stay at home mom, but I have four kids now, Regan (1997), Hali (2000), Porter, (2004) and Zoey (2006). I love my family and often think about how great my mission was. I got to go back in 1996 and hope to take my kids in a couple of years when the youngest is older. I would love to hear from any of you! In fact does anyone know where Keith Ferguson is? I'd love to hear from him!

Gruess Euch!

It was great to relive some mission highlights though your experiences. I was proud to serve with many great missionaries during the times of two great leaders, President Mangelson and Schultze. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t reflect back gratefully for my service.

I am at the in-laws for Christmas break and was searching the internet for old pals, when I stumbled across this website. It was great to hear from many of you and see how life has blessed you.

I have been married for over five years and have two small children. My daughter, Jocelyn is three, and my son Carter who is 9 months. We live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I attend medical school. (Josh Hunter is also at MCW and we reminisce on old times together.) I look forward to the day when I can return to Austria’s beauty and see my old friends.

Gruß euch!

During some downtime at work, I stumbled on this website. I currently work for Xango in Lehi, Utah where I do customer service for our market in Germany. Es macht viel Spaß, Deutsch täglich zu sprechen.

I graduated from BYU with a BA in German and Political Science in 1994. I am single and have never been married. I served under Presidents Condie and Smith from 1986-88. Those were very troubling years for me; and, although I no longer affiliate with the LDS Church, I am very grateful to the wonderful people I met during my stint in Austria. I have particular fond memories of the football games in Prater, the Kunzelmann Ausflugs, the Krauss and Mittermayer Mahlzeits, the Amerika Vortrags, Christmas caroling in the Kärtnerstraße, Dönerkebabs, Herbs, seeing Placido Domingo at the Staatsoper, the Ausstellung in Karlsplatz, teaching an atheist how to pray, the Familie Nagy in Bruck, Kurt-the-Mole (Was sagt die Barnes? Kann man nichts machen!!!) usw., usw.... Thank you all for making my stay in Austria a little easier. With the exception of Lynn Rowley-Anderson, I have not been in contact with any of my companions or others that I worked with. If any of you are out there, drop me a line. I would look forward to hearing from you.

Machts gut,

Es gruesst Euch aus Paris! Reconnecting with former Vienna or Munich missioanries would be such a joy; so I hope someone out there remembers Schwester Dalton from Vienna (83-85) or Elder Bradford from Munich (80-82) or both of us from the MTC or BYU German 101/115 where we taught so many wonderful German-bound missioanries between 85-87. Our marraige (in 85) has only intensified our connection to all things German, Austrian and \Mission\".

As stated, I taught German at the MTC and BYU, and did so while finishing a B.A. in German, then an M.A. in Comparative Lit and my husband, Randall, finished an MOB in the business school. We also returned to Vienna as grad assistants with the BYU Semester Abroad program with my father as director and my first missioan president, Ed Morrell and his wife, Norma, as assistant directors. Great memories.

The degrees and language training proved to be a launching pad for what has turned out to be a life spent living, working and serving in the church outside of the U.S. Our four children (Parker 17, Claire 15, Dalton 11 and Luc 6,) have been born and/or raised in Hong Kong, Norway, Versailles and now in Paris, where we are enjoying our eighth year residing right in the heart of things. Our family has picked up these languages as way of survival and integration, blessings and challenges we could have never conjured up on our own back in the days of \"Aus, ausser, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu. . .\", We can't help but be profoundly grateful for God's enduring care for us and our family. Serving in and raising our children in the church in Norwegian and French has been a remarkable and binding experience for us all---binding between family members and binding between the Bradfords and the Norwegians and the French. Our hearts are forever stiched to these people and these places.

But now we get to pick up an \"old stitch\", it seems,as in the coming year my husband's work as a VP in an international pharma company will take us to multi-regional headquarters just announced to be in Muenchen. While it's painful to think of pulling up roots and routines here, we see the Lord's hand in guiding us back to our first great love, the German-speaking world. What a surprise. What a gift. Sometimes you just can't take it in. . .

Maybe NOW someone out there remembers the Bradfords? Or at least wants to visit Bavaria sometime over the next several years? Ihr seid immer herzlichst eingeladen. . ."

Just found this site - pretty slick. I served under Presidents Mangelson & Schulze - those were great times. A quick update of the last 6 years: I (also) found the woman of my dreams and married her in 2001. We have a little 3-year-old girl named Attalie and one one the way, due June 1, 2007. We both graduated in 03, then I finished Law school last May. Now I work at a patent firm in Salt Lake and things are going well.

Anyone that's in the area, feel free to call, email or just stop by. I'd love to catch up and relive the good old days. If you need a place to stay for conference, our house is always open.

Hi there. I just went through the guestbook with my wife and suddenly found an entry of myself. Well, I'm not single since 12.12.2003, my wife is the woman of my dreams, just to set that right. As I wrote back then I am now studying wood technology.

I'don't know how you're doing that, but we don't even have money for ourselves, so we sure don't have any children. Since my wife just got her masters degree in \Erziehungswissenschaften\".

I served in Linz-Urfahr, Wien III, Eisenstadt (Wiener Neustadt), Wien I Office, St. Johann i. Tirol (this is the place!) and finaly in Bolzano (the german speaking corner in Northern Italy, awesome!!!)"

Hello fellow Austrian missionaires. I refect on those 2 years in Austria (5/86-5/88) regularly. It was a wonderful experience serving the Lord and sharing His message. I currently live in Kaysville, UT and have a wonderful family. I have a great wife and 4 terrific kids ranging from 16-6 years old. The oldest is a Junior at Davis High School. I am currently working for Abbott Labarotories as a sales rep in the biotech division coving Utah/Idaho/Montana. I have been in pharmaceuticals for about 12 years now. While in Austria, I had about 22 companions in 24 months (what does that say about me?) and would love to hear from them or anyone else during those great days in the mission field. Thanks to those who have put this website together. Please contact me any time.

I had made a previous entry before years ago, but this was before the site was updated and included e-mail addresses. Since I last wrote I graduated from BYU in Humanities with a German emphasis, worked at WordPerfect for several years until they laid everyone off. Then I worked for Covey Leadership Center until they merged with Franklin. After that I worked for Digital Technology International in Springville, UT.

I left the Mormon church in 1993 by choice, and I have never been happier.

In 2002 I met my current spouse Mark Andersen and moved to NY. I attended the local Episcopal church and got more involved in music. We began a weekly TV show in that airs in upstate NY and In 2005 we moved to Seattle and the show airs here too. We have completed over 100 episodes of classical and sacred and popular music on the show. My webpage has current pictures (write to me for the URL), and the homepage link is to our Podcast.

I attend a German UCC church in Capitol Hill in Seattle and enjoy visiting with Rene Ellis and his family. I keep in touch with others via e-mail.

I just read a quick blurb about me that must have been entered by my wife a while ago. I served sept '87 to sept '89 under President Smith. I was married in feb of '96 to Tanya Ivins of Bountiful Utah. We have 5 kids-9 yrs to 3 months and live in Bountiful Utah. I buy, clean up, and sell homes and have a couple rentals.

I've kept in touch with Todd Stevenson but otherwise have not had much contact with missionaries or members from the missionfield.

Drop by the reunion Friday Sept 29, 2006 and reminisce.
